Washington Trail Cruise
By Joel Starr

This is a Historical, scenic and curvy cruise.  We will be following George Washington's 1753 journey from the site of the Indian village of Loggstown (Ambridge, PA) to Fort LeBeouf in what is now Waterford PA.  In Waterford we will visit the Fort LeBeouf Historical Museum followed by lunch and ice-cream.  Washington's journal is rather vague about the actual route they followed but is guide, Christopher Gist, made journal entries most evenings when the stopped.  Between Washington's and Gist's journals and the map Washington published, historians were able to reconstruct his route.  The history and controversy surrounding the Washington trail is too involved to review the day of the cruise so I will be hosting a web meeting Thursday, April 30 at 7:00 pm to discuss the details.

Date & Time:    Saturday May 2, meet at 9:00 am we will leave promptly at 9:30 am

Location:    Sheetz
        100 Ohio River Blvd
Baden, PA 15005

THE CRUISE HAD GREAT ROADS.  LUNCH WAS REALLY GOOD.  WEATHER WAS APPROPRIATE TO SIMULATE WASHINGTON'S TRIP UP THE TRAIL.

A perfect day for a cruise. Followed Washington's trail from Baden to Waterford just outside of Lake Erie on curvy roads.Hard to imagine troops traveling along the route we took.
