Cruises / Covered Bridge Cruise
« Last post by DaveKopco on June 29, 2020, 05:37:37 PM »

***Due to increasing Covid 19 cases Luanne and I have decided to postpone this cruise until a later time.***

Luanne and I would like you to join us on our covered bridge cruise on July 11th.  The cruise will take us through 2 covered bridges in Somerset County and 4 in Bedford County with plenty of back road driving along the way. Along with the six covered bridges that we will drive over there will also be two that we will pass that we cannot drive over. We will make a quick stop at the scenic “Packsaddle” Bridge for pictures and to see waterfall beneath it.  Lunch will be at the Jean Bonnet Tavern, hopefully outside. Don’t forget your masks! We will be leaving from Sheetz #60, 118 S. Rosina Ave., Somerset at 9:30am and be back in Somerset by 3:30 for ice cream at Molly’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Please respond by Sunday, July 5th to:

Another great cruise today, with a really unique twist! Also loved the group picture with all of us and our Miatas in front of the UFO! Glad the weather held the entire way there also. Lots of top down glory. Thank you Don for a fun cruise!

It was indeed a beautiful, great day for a cruise!! With well-maintained roads, a fast flow of traffic, plenty of sun and a lovely resort destination, we really couldn't have asked for more! The highlights for me were definitely reconnecting with the club, discovering a new resort that I didn't even know existed before the cruise, the 170 year-old double-lane covered bridge in Philippi, WV, and of course, zoomin down some of the best roads in the region! Here are some pictures I took during the cruise just to give those who couldn't come some idea of how pretty the route was. And I promised Linda and Walt I'd say this, but coming from your youngest member, this cruise was the most fun I've had in many many months!!
